Tomorrow: 'Back 2 School America' Activates Metro Phoenix Holiday Build-A-Kit Event; Assembling 800 School Supply Kits For Local Students, Families In Need This Holiday Season

Phoenix, AZ ​ – Back 2 School America, the national nonprofit renowned for providing essential Back 2 School Kits for students in need is excited to announce the Metro Phoenix Holiday Build-A-Kit Event on Wednesday, December 4, ​ where volunteers will build and gift-wrap 800 Back 2 School Kits for local Metro Phoenix families facing greater hardships this holiday season. Kits will be given to PANG Patriots, the nonprofit supporting Phoenix Air National Guard families, and the Navajo Nation.

Hosted at Nextiva, the Scottsdale-based cloud communications company rated number one 'Business Phone Software' by U.S. News, will also feature companies such as Verizon, CA Ventures, Open Wide Dental, and Our Kitchen to Yours.

Families face additional financial burdens during the holidays, making it challenging to provide necessary school supplies for their children. This event aims to alleviate that burden and ensure that no child is left without the resources they need to learn and thrive.

Why It Matters

Families face additional financial burdens during the holidays, making it challenging to provide essential school supplies for their children. The Holiday Build-A-Kit event aims to alleviate that burden and reduce the number of children being left without the tools they need to succeed in the classroom while boosting student engagement and confidence.

It's thought by many that back-to-school shopping is done; however, countless students went to school with no supplies, and they will also need supplemental supplies year-round.

 

The 'Build-A-Kit' Initiative

At the heart of the event is the Build-A-Kit initiative, where volunteers will assemble essential school supplies for students in need. These kits, customized starting at PreK through high school, will include items like notebooks, pens, pencils, and other school essentials.

About Back 2 School America

The Back 2 School program was launched in 2007 to address the pressing needs of communities and the inequities in educational opportunities for children. 

In 2015 the nonprofit changed its name to Back 2 School Illinois (B2SI) to reflect the work of the organization. In the summer of 2018, B2SI expanded and launched Back 2 School America, to provide Back 2 School kits to children across the USA. 

Today, B2SA continues to provide children of low-income households with free school supplies to help level the playing field and lessen the financial burden on their families and their teachers. The Back 2 School program has provided more than 350,000 children with their own school supply kit. The organization’s long-term goal is to make sure that all children in the USA are provided with the school supplies they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
