WHAT: Proud 2 Build-A-Kit Event
Back 2 School America is excited to announce the annual Proud 2 Build-A-Kit event supporting queer students, families, and allies is taking place Friday, October 18 at the Center on Halsted – Chicago’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community center. This year’s Proud 2 Build-A-Kit event is more than just volunteering for an event— it brings together community members, allies, and corporate partners to assemble and distribute school supply kits for students in need, and where volunteers from across Chicagoland will work together to ensure students are prepared for academic success.
Queer volunteers and allies will assemble hundreds of supply kits that include pencils, notebooks, folders, and more. They will also include powerful "Notes of Inspiration," which encourage students never to give up; even if some days feel bad, they will eventually get better.
